Lisel Mueller 1924- present

German-born Lisel Mueller has lived in the United States since 1939, first in Indiana, then in Illinois. First published in The New Yorker in 1957, her poetry is fanciful, at times magical, yet also real. With a body of work heralded as quiet and powerful, enchanting and warm, she won the 1997 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry.
